David Nowlin
Superintendent and Principal
Mr. Nowlin is the Superintendent and Principal of The Academy. He has a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin. He has a passion for educating students and tremendously enjoys his job. Mr. Nowlin is an avid golfer and fisherman.
Mamie Hicks
Kitchen Aide
With over 15 years of food service experience, Ms. Hicks is in her seond year of employment with The Academy, and she plans to be here for many more years to come.
Robert Muhammad
Parent Liaison and Disicipline Specialist
Mr. Muhammad has been with Texas Empowerment Academy for ten years. He studied Physical Therapy in community college and is currently working on a degree in Business Management. He has served in a number of positions and is currently the Parent Liaison and Disicipline Specialist. Mr. Muhammad’s warm and inviting personality has helped a number of families become comfortable with transferring their children to The Academy.
Mr. Muhammad also serves as the 6th – 8th grade Art Instructor.
Brynette Smith
District Program Manager
This is Ms. Smith's second year with The Academy and she began it by working with the team to drive the opening of The Academy's Elementary Campus. She is an experienced program manager with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Michigan and a BSEE degree from Prairie View A&M University.Brynette worked at Motorola Inc and Freescale Semiconductor as an Electrical Engineer and Engineering Program Manager for 20 years. She is orignally from Phoenix, AZ.
Ms. Smith is in charge of Program Development and serves as the District Program Manager.
